Junior Hockey commences at Polo Farm at the start of September. We look forward to welcoming back young players from the previous season as well as any new 6-12 year olds interested in playing hockey. All standards are catered for and we welcome beginners. Training takes place on astroturf pitches and sticks are provided for those that need them. Times for each age group (based on age as at Sept 1) are as follows:
SUNDAY MORNING COACHING (AGES 6-13)

U8/U9 Mixed (Age 6 to 9) 9.00-10.00
U10/U11 Boys and Girls 9.00-10.30
U10/U11 Boys and Girls 9.00-10.30
U12/13 Boys and Girls 10.30-12.00
Sunday Mini hockey commences early September. Subs: £3 per session (£2 for under 9s). All boys and girls are asked to arrive for registration 15 minutes before the start of their session.
Matches and tournaments
All Boys & Girls will be invited to play in at least one internal club tournament. Selected 7-a-side teams play in inter-club friendlies, various club tournaments including the Canterbury Annual Tournament (Sunday 9th April 2006) and in the Kent Mini Tournaments for U11 and U13 Boys and Girls. Matches are generally played on Sunday mornings. Match fees £3.

CANTERBURY ACADEMY
A recent initiative is the development of a Canterbury Academy for selected, high potential, young players. The Canterbury Academy is managed by David Bunyan, Director of Hockey. David will be identifying around 20 young players to participate in the Academy each season.

From late September to early December. Approximately 6/7 sessions. Coaching and inter-schools 7-a-side games. Maximum 10 children per group – for Girls and Boys aged 9-11 years. Held on Monday and Thursday afternoon 4.30pm to 6.00pm. Additional Primary School Hockey Coaching can be arranged at the Club in the Mornings during term time.
