A century by the returning Amadou Ainscough was the main highlight of Canterbury's winning draw against lowly OD Cuaco C.C. at Polo Farm on Saturday. Returning from Uni at Loughborough Amadou hit 106 in the Canterbury total of 233 for 6 declared in 49 overs and shared in a 122 run opening stand with David Sayle (47). Contributions from Dan Bennett (38 not out) and Tory Hughes (20) were the other notable scores from the Canterbury batsmen.
Despite their position at the bottom of the league, OD Cuaco made a stirring effort to reel in the Canterbury total but finished some 32 runs short with 7 wickets down. All the top order managed to get starts to their innings and it was opener Rispoli with 68 that was the main scorer. However it was the spinners that were to take all the wickets and these were shared between Stan Sulivan 3 for 56, Rob Walker 2 for 33 and Stu Drakeley 1 for 26.
The win puts the 2nd XI into 3rd spot in the league and they will now travel to the other team currently in the relegation place, Hythe C.C. on Saturday.
