2008-06-21 v. SIBTON PARK C.C. - WINNING DRAW

Skipper Tim Wren took 5 for 17 but just failed to put one over on his old side as Sibton Park held out for a losing draw in Saturday's Kent League Division One fixture at Polo Farm.

Batting first in ideal conditions after winning the toss, Canterbury posted a par for the course total of 232 all out in 49.2 overs. After the early loss of Neil Gowers, they re-grouped with a century stand between Matt Jenkinson (93) and Caiden Lang (73) but Sibton Park clawed their way back into contention with some good bowling from Andy Allon (3 for 28) and Chris Heath (5 for 63).

The Park though were never really in touch with the asking rate and floundered late on in their reply, yet still managed to hold out for the 50 overs and the draw at 125 for 9 despite Canterbury's best bowling efforts. Skipper Wren said, 'We had 11 balls at their last pair and couldn't quite get them out'. 'I felt we did quite well to get them 9nine down with a late flurry of wickets but I guess looking at the basic scorecards, you'd think we were frustrated by them, in reality it wasn't that way'.
