The 3rd's continued their winning ways against local rivals St. Lawrence & Highland Court 3rd XI in Kent Feeder League East on Saturday. Having travelled the short distance across town, Steve Lamyman won the toss and decided to have first hit. The Canterbury openers didn't disappoint and it was Andrew Kinch (52) with his debut half century this season and James Hutchings (78) who led the way with a solid opening partnership of 130. Mitch Weatherley (35 not out) and Zakir Rostami (28) helped to build the total and after a few of the middle order fell cheaply a challenging target of 211 for 8 was reached. The egg sandwiches, sausage rolls and a cup of tea were well earned.

Will Trafford then bowled well for no reward and the 'Mitchell Brothers' (Tony and Weatherley, not Grant and Phil) contained the opposition with some fine spin bowling. Steve Lamyman used a total of 8 bowlers in order to stem the flow of runs from the St. Lawrence batsmen but it was the 'evergreen' Trevor Minter who finished with 3 for 8 that finished off the innings. Even the skipper Steve 'Bleeta' Lamyman managed to put himself into the limelight and took 2 for 12 from the 4 overs he bowled (amazing!!!!!) St. Lawrence were dismissed for 172 in the 44th over, giving the 3rds their second win on the trot. Having spoken with Steve after the game he said he was pleased with the way the side held their nerve in the field when under pressure. They now travel to St. Margarets C.C. for their next fixture on Saturday.
