Canterbury 1st XI fell just two runs short of victory against probably favourites for this years promotion Bickley Park C.C. Batting first at Polo Farm, Bickley were held in check over their 50 overs to reach 196 for 8. The majority of runs were scored by Jimmy Lincoln who's move from St. Lawrence and Highland Court this season seems to have paid of for both parties. Lincoln score 88 runs of the total, finally falling to a catch by Justin McVicar off Ben Cooper. 'Skater' went on to take another 4 wickets in the innings finishing with figures of 5 for 57 from his 15 overs. The other three wickets were shared between skipper Tim Wren (2 for 45) and Justin McVicar (1 for 14).
In reply, Matt Jenkinson (35) and Neil Gowers (41) got the innings off to a solid start and with South African Caiden Lang scoring 39 before being run out, all looked good for Canterbury. Ryan Minter (16), Chris Jay (23) and Justin McVicar (26*) brought the total closer but unfortunately fell just one run short of a tie and two runs short of what would have been a valuable victory.
