Canterbury 3rd XI finally got their Kent Feeder League East campaign off to winning ways on Saturday when they defeated Preston & Elmstone C.C. by 4 wickets. Having won the toss and decided to bowl, skipper Steve Lamyman was not to be disappointed as his bowlers took immediate charge. Jamie Uglow ( 4 for 19) and Will Trafford (3 for 31) made inroads into the visitors with only the top four batsmen for Preston reaching double figures. Trevor Minter (2 for 9) and Steve Lamyman (1 for 9) were the other wickets takers who ensured that Preston were dismissed for just 92 in 25 overs.
In reply, Canterbury started solidly with James Sampson (18), James Askham (28) and Mike Burnett (15). However, despite a small collapse in the middle order the target was reached for the loss of 6 wickets in the 23rd over. For full scorecard please see more
Canterbury will now travel the short distance across town to St. Lawrence & Highland Court 3rd XI for Saturdays fixture.
