Canterbury 3rd XI were defeated by local rivals Ash C.C. when they met in the 'Kent Feeder League East' at Ash Recreation Ground on Saturday. Batting first, the Ash batsmen made good progress against the Canterbury attack to reach a total of 236 for 8 in their 46 overs. The main wicket taker for the Canterbury side was Mark Bradley (3 for 30) with Paul Moon and Andrew Kinch sharing two apiece.
After losing Andrew Kinch cheaply, James Sampson (27) along with Paul Moon (19) and James Hutchings (19) began to steadily build the reply. James Askham (54) and James Sibthorpe (33 not out) hit valuable runs in the middle/lower order but there was never any real threat that Ash's score would be reached. Canterbury finished on 183 for 8 to lose by 53 runs.
