Canterbury 2nd's suffered a disappointing 75 run defeat at the hands of Gravesend C.C. at Polo Farm on Saturday. The visitors won the toss and decided to bat and it was Dale Clarkson (2 for 31), who was facing his old Club for the first time since his move who grabbed the first two wickets to fall. After three cheap wickets at the top of the order the Gravesend batsmen made steady progress and reached 192 from the 50 overs. The other Gravesend wickets were shared between Tory Hughes, Stan Sullivan and Rob Walker who took two apiece.
In chasing the target it was only skipper Mark Slaughter (42) who made any inroads into the Gravesend attack as Canterbury were bowled out for just 117. The side will hope to turn their fortune around next week when they travel to HSBC. For full details of the scorecard see more
