The Sunday 1st XI got their East Kent League campaign off to a solid start with a 5 wicket win over Nonnington C.C at Polo Farm. Winning the toss the away side decided to bat and despite a fairly solid opening partnership they were unable to dominate the bowling and were restricted to 167 for 8 from the allotted 40 overs in this league. Those Canterbury bowlers in the wickets were Stuart Drakeley (3 for 24) and the 'part-time pie chucking' of Dan Bennett (3 for 28 - no offence meant Dan!!!). Other creditable performance with the ball were Peter McCaig who bowled 5 overs for just 4 runs and Justin McVicar who bowled his allocation of 8 overs for just 15.

Chasing down the target, Canterbury began well through Dan Bennett (47) and Caiden Lang (32) but lost their way slightly in the middle order as wickets fell cheaply. However, with 5 wickets down skipper Mike Burnett (27 not out) and Justin McVicar (36 not out) ensured that the target was reached without any further problems with over three overs to spare.
