Canterbury 2nd's came off second best in one of the only fixtures completed in the Kent Cricket League this weekend against Whitstable C.C at Polo Farm. With rain ruining most of the fixtures in the league, groundsman Tim Smith's hard work ensured that a game could be played and with Whitstable winning the toss they decided to have 'first knock'. Their openers started well and the score had reached 99 before Canterbury managed to capture the first wicket. Most of the Whitstable batsmen contributed in some respect and a total of 233 for 6 was reached. Dale Clarkson and Tory Hughes both took 2 wickets apiece and were the pick of the Canterbury attack.
Despite a reasonable start to the innings, Canterbury's reply could not gain momentum and the middle and lower order could not score the runs needed to mount any sort of challenge. Canterbury were dismissed for a disappointing 145 which amounted to a defeat by 88 runs. For full details of the scorecard please see more
