| Welcome to Canterbury Ladies Hockey Club
Welcome to the start of another exciting Season - 2007/8. For the past few years Canterbury Ladies 1stX1 have been rewarded with playing in European Competitions and successfully returning home with medals. However the 2007/2008 season will probably be a transitional period for the team,as several members of the elite squad including Mel Clewlow, Becky Duggan, Natalie Seymour, Cathy Gilliat- Smith and Hayley Brown will undoubtedly be involved with the National Squad warm up games prior to the Beijing Olympics, and will probably be unable to play in the Premier Slazenger League on a regular basis. We wish these girls every success in their quest for Olympic Team selection. The Ist X1 are pleased to introduce new girls Kirsty Chapman and Clair Brown to the squad, together with a fine bunch of talented youngsters including GK,16 year old Becky Smith, Lucy Stewart and Sarah Kerly. Player Coach Mel Clewlow is confident that the team will be successful, and she will guide the girls through their season with her wealth of International coaching experience. All new players, of any standard, are most welcomed to join Club Coach Chris Haigh at Wednesday night training sessions on the Polo Farm waterbase astro at 8pm. Here is a link to our fixtures page. Canterbury Ladies HC strengths lie in their wealth of outstanding coaches who will deliver a coaching programme to all levels. We organize evening coaching during the week under floodlights and also provide a Junior Academy offering specialist coaching for more talented players. On Sunday mornings all junior players are welcomed to join our Minis Training. They are the future of the club and are well supported throughout their development. Many players having arrived at Polo quickly recognise and enjoy the friendly atmosphere that we have to offer, so if you are interested in playing hockey at one of England’s Premier Clubs then please contact us. You will be very welcomed.
