Canterbury Croquet Club - News and Reports

SIX members of Canterbury Lawn Tennis Club swapped racquets for mallets on Sunday (Sept11) and tried their hand at golf croquet.

They were the guests of Canterbury Croquet Club at Polo Farm. It did not take them long to get into the swing of things. After a brief training session they split into pairs and played Canterbury members in a tournament organised by Canterbury's Roger Loram. Each tennis team was mentored by a Canterbury player and the tennis players delighted in the devilish tactics involved in the game. The tennis players, Karen Furley, Gaya Perera, Geoff and Linda Cannon, David Blandford and Paul Kusel, said they thoroughly enjoyed their day, which included a lunch in the Polo Farm Clubhouse.

The winning doubles tennis club players David Blandford and Gata Perera won the two trophies presented by Canterbury chairman Jean Byers.

The Hockey and Cricket sections had also been invited but were unable to attend.
